Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Central PDI

CS107 We supported Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles move PDI of their rental customers' vehicles to the Group PDI Centre in Sheerness.

Context

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) makes and sells light commercial vehicles and van derived products such as camper vans. Their products are very popular with rental companies and VWCV wanted to improve the supply chain from port to customer. A  key opportunity was identified through consolidating Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) at the Group centre in Sheerness.

Need

The VWCV team required support to set up and manage the transition project to move PDI from the retailers to the PDI centre.

Delivery

The project had two phases:

  1. Work the PDI centre operator, GBA, to design the processes, and make the site ready. The service required was above the level required for cars due to the special needs of van customers.
  2. Work with retailers to transition from PDI at their sites to PDI at Sheerness.
Outcome

The transition was successfully completed, following a six month project.
