A number of organisations have engaged Stuart Copeland to provide such services including;
• Bureau Vistas – a standards and regulations compliance company
• David Lloyd Leisure – a large health and racquets club group
• Fitness First – the largest privately owned health club group in the world
• Hyundai – the world’s fifth-largest automaker with over 78,000 employees
• Volkswagen Group – responsible for sales of Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen cars and commercial vehicles in the UK
Issues / Challenges
• To govern a project team often made up of different areas
• Ensure that the service provided was sustainable following Stuart’s exit
Aims of the project
To provide a level of support to project managers that ensures their project team is successful, both during and following Stuart’s intervention.
Having worked with Stonac, participants should be able to:
1. Understand their role in helping the customer and achieve their business objectives
2. Maintain their focus on ‘the big picture’ throughout the project
3. Understand the true value of rigorous project set up and initiation
4. Deliver an effective communication process using project tools
5. More effectively deal with difficulties within a project
Measures implemented
• Formal mentoring programme with the individual(s) leading the project
o Workshop Leader encouraged interactive sessions where debate was encouraged from the participant(s)
o Relevant examples based on real experience were used to illustrate the material
o Slides, flip charts and hand-outs were used to demonstrate points and reveal information
o Delegates will receive hand-outs / information with supporting material to enable them to use the approaches demonstrated and practiced during the module
• Reviews of processes/departments
• Collaboration with project leaders to establish an action plan
• Regular follow up meetings to review project progress
Outcomes
The individuals and teams were more effective in managing their projects overall, areas of improvement included;
• Learning about and working with the customer
• Project set up and initiation
• Setting up communication channels
• Dealing with difficulties, i.e. scope creep, escalating issues, delays
